Sunflower

ROSE GO BACK POPPY

"A common misconception is that the flower turns so it's always facing the sun."

Sunflowers grow during summer and fall and should be sown in spring and early summer. Sunflowers grow quickly. A lot can reach up to 12 feet of growth within only 3 months. Sunflowers are heliotropic, which means their flowers follow the sun from east to west.

There are over 70 cultivars for sunflowers. These varieties can be divided into 3 groups: giant sunflowers, dwarf sunflowers, and coloured sunflowers. Sunflowers are usally bright yellow with brown centers, but varieties include shades of bright yellow, copper, red, brown, orange and bi-colored.
